Prayer is a powerful tool. Jesus said that if we had the faith of a mustard seed, we could move mountains. We have various forms of prayer, but it is all to the same God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). Just as there are many different personality types, people, ways of understanding, so too, there are different spiritualities, expressions of prayer, and dynamics of prayer. God does not ask us to be the same, but one with Him.
A recommendation for our spiritual journey could be the book written by Dr. Ralph Martin "Fulfillment of All Desire." (or the kindle edition) Ralph has taken 5 of the spiritual doctors of the Church and brilliantly translated these deep works to something that is digestible and understandable in our modern time.
If you are interested in learning more about prayer, please contact the office and we can help to direct you. The first step is to "JUST. DO IT." Get your bible out, pray this simple prayer "Come Holy Spirit" and then start reading the Gospels, or the Psalms, or wherever God leads you ...! It's all about a deep relationship with God who made you out of love and for love.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS - especially for the staff and leadership of the Elgin Roman Catholic Family of Parishes. God bless you!!!
